A certain topic or technological field. ‘In domain’ refers the fact that a topic is situated in the same field as the original. For example in the case of shampoos other topics like nail polish or skin creams are considered to be in domain, since they are all belonging to the field of cosmetics. ‘Out domain’ refers to technological areas that share some similarities with a topic of interest based on their properties and functions. For example for shampoos, dishwashing detergents are considered to be out domain, since they share the properties of foaming and cleaning, but have a completely different application compared to cosmetics.
